CENTER OF COMPETENCE FOR LOGISTICS AND MOBILITY IN CARINTHIA – LIVELY COOPERATION.

 

The hub Logistik Center Austria Süd, the logistics location in southern Austria, combines logistics-related services with terminal services and intermodal transport concepts.

A wide variety of terminal services and consulting services are offered for everything concerning the logistics location of Carinthia in general and the logistics hub Fürnitz|Villach in specific. In addition to Austria’s second-largest marshalling yard, the location also houses the Combi Cargo Terminal Villach Süd operated by ÖBB Infrastruktur.

In addition, the location agency is developing into a competence center for logistics and mobility in Carinthia and has set itself the task of making the logistics location of Carinthia more visible and strengthening it in all its facets and with its stakeholders. This includes above all the marketing of rail as a green alternative to road freight transport and the further expansion of the location into a hinterland port and dry port for the north Adriatic ports of Trieste and Koper.

AUSTRIAN FEDERAL RAILWAYS – TERMINAL SERVICES

On site, the Austrian Federal Railway company (AFR) operates a large-scale shunting yard and transshipment station with interconnected logistics center for wagonload traffic and combined freight transport. Furthermore, the site features the AFR cargo-terminal.

  • Empty container depot, container cleaning and repair service, check-in/check-out
  • Transshipment platforms also for conventional transport
  • Parking options for freight transport, as well as for heavy-lorry and traction vehicles.

  • Last-mile service, including shunting and mechanical service
  • SOLAS weighing machine / industrial scale
  • Short-term storage facilities for RID goods in containers (up to 21 days in accordance with safety officers)
  • Storing, stuffing and transshipping, including securing cargo
  • Loading of trucks and tractor-trailers that can’t be loaded by crane

The ideal connection to road and rail, , as well as the intelligent network between ports located on the Upper Adriatic coastline and the LCA South inland port, result in a comprehensive service offering.
